Black Friday

Tis' Black friday and a good one at that! I am SOOOOO loving today! We got up at three and went to wal mart where we were able to ge tthis awesome laptop I am currently typing on. We also got the kids christmas presents and a couple other misc items we have been needing at serious discounts. I have to say that I was so happy with how everyone was behaving this morning. It was all so polite and well organized. People were saving spots for each other and grabbing things for strangers. I think that a lot of it could be attributed to the new store manager who is in our ward actually. I think he did a great job of organizing the store and implementing changes from last year that made it so much better. My only sadness is that i didnt get a little track suit for A. They only had a few in toddler sizes so they were out by the time i got there. But still it was a pretty good haul!

AND! Then we headed over to home depot. And the christmas tree I wanted was more than 50% off! So we got that too. A perfect day so far if I do say so myself! Hope its a good one for you too!

Tender Moments

Daddy has been in South Dakota for a few days. And its been rough. A has not been feeling well and K has just been on one. So we have been having early bed times needless to say. Daddy gets home today and for that I am so grateful! But last night was a good night.

After I put the kids to bed I got to finish an awesome skirt I have been working on for A. And then A started crying. I normally let her cry herself back to sleep but since she has been sick I have been getting up with her sometimes. And Im glad I did because she could hardly breathe with all the grossness coming out of her nose. So we took care of that and I rocked her so she could sleep sitting up and breathe better for a little while.

You have to understand. A NEVER falls asleep in my arms like this if their is another alternative. She much prefers a bed. So I spent the better part of an hour or so just rocking my sweet baby. The country song that says "you're gonna miss this, you're gonna want this back you're gonna wish these days hadnt gone by so fast" came to my head and while some days with the kids at this age are hard... I know that I am going to miss these days someday and so I try desprately to hold onto moments like that. So I just rocked. I know it was indulgent but i loved it.

Then later K came into bed with me. He was having growing pains again. Again, I usually dont let the kids sleep with me but since Daddy was gone I let him crawl in. We spent a few minutes snuggling and talking. I LOVE listening to him tell me all about his life like that. Its just so cute. Then he told me I was the best mother in the whole world and we fell asleep. AGAIN... a moment to hold on to.

I am so thankful for the tender mercies of our Lord. I think that most days are just the day to day grind and you get through them. Its these moments that make life so overwhelmingly good. So as we approach thanksgiving I am trying harder to be thankful for the moments.

(yes, i know i am a nostalgic and sentimental mother. But i like it that way... )

Picture Laden birthday post

This post is chalked full of pictures for all those who love miss A but couldnt be there for her party. Here she is in her birthday outfit. I think she looks adorable!

A couple present pictures

And the moment you've all been waiting for! The cake. This was hillarious. I have to say. Usually it goes one of two ways. The baby wants nothing to do with the messy thing, or they dig right in with their hands and have fun.

A decided that this cake was the best thing that ever happened to her... as you will see... hehe
First...she wanted to play with the fire, so we had to restrain her.

And isnt this a cute cake?! Wal Mart... ;)

Hmmm... what is this? I think I will try it...

MMMMM... delicious...

After a few bites she decided that using her hands was too slow... so she dived right in!

Now she picks up the cake and brings the WHOLE thing to her mouth!!

She finished off all but the last of the three layers... pretty impressive if i do say so myself...

A quick Birthday Post!

We are celebrating As birthday Saturday when the in laws can come. But I couldnt let the day pass without comment.

Having A in our home has been one of the greatest joys of my life. Its strange, as a mother, to look at her and remember that she used to be a part of me. Having a son is amazing and while having her is not better, it is so different. I have no idea what its like to be a little boy. So I have gone into motherhood with my son blissfully unaware. But with her, I am terrified. :) I remember my insecurities and fears. I know what it is like to have an amazing mother and i worry that I wont be what she needs me to be. She is beautiful and smart and already a force of nature! I hope that I can foster those qualities in her as she grows. I look at my husband and the men in his family and I know that one day my son will probably prefer to talk hunting and fishing with the guys than snuggle with me on the couch. But her, she can always be mine if i am lucky! I hope that I might be raising one of my future best friends.

A little about my sweet baby...
A has the best little smile. I have been trying to catch it on film, but every time I bring out the camera it vanishes. While she has many smiles... this one is special. She scrunches up her whole face and clenches her teeth with a laughing little smile. It captures my heart every time. :)

She is walking and talking. She says Mama, Dada, Bru-buh (Brother), Baba, Dat(that). Sadly, "Bwap" is not so common anymore. :*(

She is a CLIMBER! She wants to climb on anything she can get a foot up on. She was scaling the stack of metal chairs at church the other day.

She loves her daddy! And she has a special way that she likes for him to carry her. I call it her throne. In the crook of his arm facing outward. If he picks her up she will squirm until she is sitting comfortably in her throne.

She adores her big brother. The two of them are a revelation to me. I hope they always love each other so much. When he gets sent to his room she will go keep him company. And when we shut him in with the door closed she will lay on the floor by the door with her fingers sticking under the door and they will hold hands. I need to get a picture of this because it breaks my heart! He cries for her when he is sad. I truely believe that they were always meant to be together.

She can wave bye bye now! That was just new this week. :)

She is confused by the phone. When we put it to her ear she refuses to keep it there and looks around to figure out where the voice is coming from. And sends a dirty look to the phone.

She LOVES to eat. And she will eat just about anything.

She is fairly social for her age. Most babies parallel play. But A likes to play WITH other kids. Which might come from playing with her big brother.

Im sure that there is more I could tell you about her. But Im tired... :) I adore this little girl and I can only count my blessings that we have been entrusted with two such amazing spirits in our home!

Baby Shoes

So shoes have been a little problem for miss A. She hates them. :) Much like her mother. I just cant keep them on her! So I found some shoes that a good friend of mine got her little girl at Target that i liked. I found some material that would work and I made them. Worked great. They are cute and she keeps them on.

Problem? yes. I need to make them out of leather since she is a walker and fabric shoes would quickly become destroyed. Leather is expensive and the kind I would need is kind of expensive... They sell these shoes at Target for a reasonable price, but I am not a fan of corny shoes with hearts and stuff on them.

Solution? YES! I went on EBAY and found a great store that has them for even less than target! AND!!! They have some pretty cute ones! I tried to download a picture but my computer sucks and so that isnt going to work. :) HERES the link to the store. And I think I am going to get her the pair in the picture once we get paid. I actually think I am going to get a couple because you can get 4 and have the same shipping price and if i get them in different sizes we can use them for a long time to come!

Pony Watch Continues

We can get it into two for real piggy tails! So cute! But it makes her look so big i think... :( And afterwords when I take it out, she looks like wolverine... hehehe... with the hair froing out to the sides... But I ABSOLUTELY LOVE having a little girl to play with her hair!

She is mad at him here because he wont let go of her... but he really wanted to be in the picture... so here we are... not the best picture ever... but it represents real life anyway.

Fried Chicken

Unfortunately by the time I got the camera, I missed the really good pictures of this moment.

We had fried chicken for dinner the other night and apparently miss A loves fried chicken because after James threw his away we looked over at her and she was leaning over the trash with chicken in both hands chowing down! DISGUSTING... but funny... hehehe... so we needed a picture.

(Dont judge my laundry on the floor... it was laundry day and i make huge piles in the kitchen and then work on them... and if you are judging me then you suck... hehe)

Grateful for inspiration

Three plus years ago Daddy graduated with his bachelors. He was offered an amazing opportunity to get his masters by one of his professors. It would have paid tuition plus a monthly stipend. I firmly believe that in a lot of decisions that we make, the Lord expects us to ponder it out in our minds first. Do your research, try to make a logical decision, and then go to him for confirmation. So we did. Sounded like a perfect chance.

But to be honest... we were exhausted with school. DONE... We just wanted to get on with life. Plus, the difference in salary for his profession with a masters vs. a bachelors was insignificant for the most part. We decided that we were going to move on and look for a job. After praying about it we felt good about our decision. There was no lightning bolt or burning yes, but we didn't get a no so we pressed forward.

A month after Daddy graduated we still had no job. But then he got this job and was offered two more in this same area. So we really felt like this was where we were supposed to be.

But I cant tell you how many times over the last three years I have wondered if maybe we shouldn't have stayed and gotten that masters. It really was perfect and he wont ever get a chance like that again.

Then last night we were talking and there are THREE people working as lab techs where Daddy works that have a MASTERS DEGREE... three... because, as fresh college graduates in this economy, with little work experience, they haven't been able to find work. If we had stayed in school, it would have put us looking for a job right after the economy tanked and we would likely be in this same situation.

So today, I am so grateful that we went with our gut on this one. Even though it meant doing something that went against common sense. My heart goes out to those who are struggling right now. People without jobs, or jobs that are not what they were hoping for. I know that there are struggles that we are supposed to weather and we have had our share, but i am thankful that this was not one that was meant for us at this time.

Catching up... again

So... Its time to catch up again. I was uploading pictures to the computer and found some good ones from the last month.

A Few weeks ago we lost power for over three hours! K thought it was great! We lot a TON of tea light candles and our propane camping lantern and snuggled up to read a bunch of books until he fell asleep. Thank goodness for cell phones because that is the only way i was able to fine our matches and lantern in the pitch black dark! hehe

A few weeks ago, K was having a play date with one of his little buddies. I was working on something and suddenly realized that the baby was missing! So i went to check with the boys to see if they knew where she was. And this is what I saw! So cute. They didnt want her to be alone so they brought her outside with them. And she was yelling at them and cheering them on in their jumping festivities.

And then she caught me!

Sorry its taken me so long! But here are our Halloween Pictures!

First I have to brag a little. This year our family did a peter pan theme. I was Wendy, Daddy was Hook, K peter and A was Tink. At our ward party we got the award for best family costume. I will post a picture of that later when i can get it from whoever was taking pictures that night. We didnt get many quality pictures this year. :(

Since it was Daddys and His brothers birthday over the last week or so we had a party for them that night too. We were also lucky because Daddys Uncle and Aunt, (Who are actually closer in age to him...) were visiting too so their kids joined in as well. It was a really fun night!

This is the best picture i could get of the tinkerbell costume. She just would not hold still. She was so happy to have so many people to play with!
The little shoes! I LOVE them!

A with Cousin Tylita being pulled around for trick or treating.

The trick or treat crew!

Tylita decided she needed a rest... hahaha!
